Squirrel Friendly Bird Feeder

Our newest addition to the collection in our RV garden decor is The Country Chicken Bird Feeder.
We were looking for a feeder for the squirrels and chipmunks...yes, yes I know, most people try to put up bird feeders that are immune to the little furry creatures, but we like them. Our bird feeders are already immune, so the birds have no competition to be sure.
Well, the funny thing that has happened here is that while the cute little furry creatures do appreciate the "leg-up" so to speak, so does a couple of larger visitors!
Yesterday, we had to upright this little beauty after a rather large ground squirrel knocked it over by launching off of it while escaping from the attentions of our 2 miniature poodles. Failing to capture the ground squirrel, the dogs then returned to eat the bird feeder contents! Who would have thought?
Very funny to see, unfortunately it happened too fast to catch on camera.

Described As: A bold, bright sunflower shelters a plump pair of poultry and their tender young brood, while its bloom forms a holder for plenty of tasty seeds to attract a bevy of hungry birds. This country charmer adds a light-hearted touch of sunny fun to your garden! Polyresin. 8" x 7" x 13 3/4" high.

American Bird House Blog is Launched

American Bird House is a blog that was born out of our love of nature, birds in particular, and enhancing garden decor with birdhouses and bird feeders.

We are two, 50 somethingish women; who after raising our families and running our homes and successful careers; decided to hit the road to live full-time in our RV and travel the USA and Canada while we do it.

Everywhere that we go presents a new opportunity to reinvent our garden decor. One prevailing theme for us has been the question of "Where will we put the birdhouse and which bird feeders do we need?" We have discovered that no matter where we are, setting the garden decor and bringing out the birdhouses and bird feeders, somehow makes it feel like home.

No question about it, birdhouses and bird feeders attract birds! That is exactly what we want to do. We think that the best garden decor begins with the natural components of living, breathing, singing BIRDS!

As we progress in our upcoming posts, we will talk about our travels and share pix and anecdotes with you about who's visiting our bird feeders and share tips on how you can enhance your garden decor while attracting different birds to your bird feeders and birdhouses.

We have many years between us of landscaping and garden decor experience that we are happy to share. Plus as we are travelling, we have the opportunity to try out new things in different parts of the country.
